This is the most valuable spiritual book of India. Spoken by God Himself, it answers all the important questions facing mankind.
It removes the spell of illusion and enlightens us to realize that we are a spirit soul and not the material body. We learn that God, seated in our hearts as Paramatma (His localized expansion) monitors all our desires.
We are advised to perform our jobs to the best of our abilities but leave the results up to Him. Since He is everybody's Well-Wisher, He will direct the optimum path for us, especially if we surrender to Him for guidance. Bhagavad-gita helps us to reestablish our loving relationship with God, the Holder of all six of these opulences in full – fame, wealth, strength, renunciation, beauty, and knowledge. Surely you cannot be fearful and anxious if you have a Friend like that!
Here's what some famous people have said about Bhagavad-gita:
Henry David Thoreau:
"In the morning I bathe my intellect in the stupendous and cosmogonal philosophy of the Bhagavad-gita, in comparison with which our modern world and its literature seem puny and trivial."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
"I owed a magnificent day to the Bhagavad-gita. It was the first of books: it was as if an empire spoke to us, nothing small or unworthy, but large, serene, consistent, the voice of an old intelligence which in another age and climate had pondered and thus disposed of the same questions which exercise us."
Mohandas K. Gandhi
"When doubts haunt me, when disappointments stare me in the face, and I see not one ray of hope on the horizon, I turn to the
Bhagavad-gita and find a verse to comfort me; and I immediately begin to smile in the midst of overwhelming sorrow. Those who meditate on the
Gita will derive fresh joy and new meanings from it every day."
